Local Community Adaptation to Flood Disaster In Soppeng District

Every year floods occur in Soppeng regency. The high rainfall and land conversion become the main cause of flood. It affects society both their life welfare. community has carried out various responses adaptation strategies to deal with risk future floods. Thus, this study aims determine local strategy dealing flood disasters Regency. method was using in-depth interviews observations flooded areas. participation comes from socially inductive research that produces descriptive results. result shows lack coordination between community, government, private parties (NGOs) leads higher vulnerability. In addition, model by begins at household level, especially house-building form a stilt house. consists two parts namely, lower upper. part is usually used deviate goods, agricultural materials, vehicles, while upper as place rest carry daily routines such cooking, chatting neighbors, receiving guests, so on. act groups raising position house second floor, building small embankment, moving appliances place.
